In Paul’s first letter to the churches in Corinth (chapter 12), Paul outlines the various spiritual gifts that contribute to the Body of Christ. Spiritual gifts played an important role in Paul’s theology: They allowed Christian believers to participate in the church and in advancing God’s kingdom in the community.
Spiritual gifts are still important today. Knowing our gifts allows us to participate in our community, become effective ministers and missionaries in our sphere of influence, and provide greater purpose in our overall life.
God put us all here for a reason; spiritual gifts help us sharpen and focus where to devote our resources, time, and talents.
What are your spiritual gifts, and where is God calling you to be “on mission” in your community?
